Police seized counterfeit goods worth about 4 million lei
In a special operation, police officers seized counterfeit goods worth almost four million lei. Almost 140 cases of sale and storage of counterfeit goods were detected.
In 2015, counterfeit goods worth 3.8 million lei were imported into the country. The range is vast. From household appliances and car parts – to toys and clothes, publika.md writes.
“There were brands such as Adidas, Armani, Calvin Klein, Versace, Versace, Gucci, Puma, Hugo Boss and others,” said Ruslan Petrusenco from the National Investigation Inspectorate.
Checks were ordered all over the country – in shopping centres, markets and warehouses.
“In order to detect fakes, we are enlisting the help of official representatives of famous brands in our country. They are the ones who assess whether it is a counterfeit product or not,” explained Ruslan Petrusenko.
Most of the seized goods are imported. But the production of counterfeit goods has also been detected in the country. One shop, producing halva under a foreign brand, was closed. A clandestine cigarette factory has also been closed.
Those suspected of selling and producing counterfeit products risk a fine of 70 to 100 thousand lei.
The international operation called “Black Poseidon” was supported by Interpol in five countries, including Moldova.
