Intelligence and Security Service joins national afforestation campaign

Intelligence and Security Service officers took part in the National Afforestation Programme’s afforestation activities, which involves regenerating and planting new forests throughout the country. The campaign takes place under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Moldova and is organised by the Ministry of Environment and the Moldsilva Agency.

The annual participation of the Service in eco-civic measures is one of the institutional traditions and aims to create a healthier environment for society and the future of the country, as well as to maintain forest ecosystems that constitute the national strategic heritage. This year, SIS employees planted about 1000 lime saplings on an area of 1.2 ha. The planting material was provided by the Mereșeni Forestry Office of the “Hîncești-Silva” Forestry Enterprise.

Note: The tree planting campaign is carried out during November-December, according to the National Programme for the Extension and Rehabilitation of Forests for the years 2023-2032, approved by Government Decision No 55/2023. The programme provides for the rehabilitation and creation of new forests on an area of 145 thousand ha over 10 years (2023-2032). 201 ha of forest will be planted by autumn 2023.
