Ukrainian law enforcement officers exposed a criminal group whose representatives organized call centers and, posing as employees of stock exchanges, offered residents of different countries to invest their personal savings in cryptocurrency.

The group was exposed in Ukraine: among the victims of the scammers were citizens of Moldova.

Thus, the attackers were able to deceive citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan and the European Union. The damage is estimated at several million hryvnia, moldova1.md reports.

The organizers of the criminal group turned out to be 49-year-old and 51-year-old natives of Georgia. Possessing authority in criminal circles, the defendants involved 12 more citizens in illegal activities.

Each of the accomplices was responsible for the direction entrusted to him: developing a fraudulent plan, recruiting personnel and providing personal information of “clients”, providing cover for the “business”, as well as distributing the funds received among the group members, part of which was spent on replenishing the “criminal common fund”.

Using psychological techniques, scammers assured citizens of receiving investment profits and convinced them to transfer money to electronic wallets and bank cards.

On May 30, law enforcement officers conducted about 40 searches at the residences and vehicles of the defendants in Kyiv and the region. As a result of the searches, investigators seized 12 premium cars, 136 pieces of computer equipment, more than 950 SIM cards, rough records, as well as $64,500, more than 311,000 hryvnia, 4,600 euros

. As a result of investigative measures, 14 people were detained. Preventive measures in the form of detention were chosen for all suspects. Procedural management of criminal proceedings is carried out by the Kiev Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
