In Moldova, the activities of a group involved in organizing illegal migration were uncovered

A citizen of Moldova and a citizen of Ukraine were detained in Moldova, who are suspected of organizing the illegal migration of Ukrainian citizens to EU countries through Moldova.

According to the investigation, the suspects organized the illegal entry and stay of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of member states of the European Union. According to law enforcement officials, for such “services” the suspects took $4,000 and €4,000 per person, reports rupor.md

Together with two Moldovan offenders, Ukrainian citizens helped natives of the neighboring country cross the border and move from Yampol to Varnitsa, across the Dniester River, and then to Chisinau. From there the men planned to continue their journey to the European Union.

Three of these Ukrainian migrants were detained at Chisinau International Airport as they tried to leave Moldova and enter the EU without the necessary documents. As a result of the measures taken, two members of the criminal group were convicted: one of them is a citizen of Moldova, and the other is a citizen of Ukraine. An investigation is currently ongoing in Moldova to clarify all the circumstances.
