A foreign citizen was detained by the CNA in an influence peddling case. The suspect allegedly promised to obtain the permissive documents for finding foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Moldova

A 55-year-old foreign citizen, residing in Chisinau, was detained by CNA officers in an influence peddling case. He is suspected of having promised a person the obtaining of permissive documents for inviting foreigners to work and the subsequent legalization of their stay on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

According to the materials of the case, the suspect would have acted with intention in the sense of favoring the obtaining of permissive documents for the presence of foreign citizens on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, claiming that he has influence on the public persons within the General Inspectorate of Migration responsible for examining the respective requests. For mediation services, he claimed and received 1,800 euros – the amount claimed for two people.

As part of the criminal investigation, the transfer of the money under the control of the CNA was documented, and today the suspect’s home and car were searched.

He is currently being held for 72 hours and is being placed in the CNA Isolator.

Any person is presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is rendered.
