A man from Drochia caught red-handed by the CNA. He wanted to help a driver caught drunk to avoid responsibility in exchange for 2,000 euros.
A man from Drochia was caught red-handed by officers of the General Territorial Directorate (GTU) of the Northern CNA and prosecutors from the Northern Department of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of influence peddling.
He allegedly demanded and received 2,000 euros from the informant to help him get rid of a case opened by the police for driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to the complaint, the suspect claimed that he could influence the officers of the Drochiai ROVD to close the case opened in the name of the informant and that he could induce the law enforcement officers to release his car, which was in a specialised car park. For his services, he would demand 2,000 euros.
The detention took place when the money was handed over to the control of officers of the DGT “North” of the KPA. The suspect was taken to the headquarters of DGT Nord CNA and placed in isolation for 72 hours. A criminal case of trading in influence was opened against him.
The criminal case is being investigated by the Northern Division of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
