Sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing drinking buddy

On July 28, 2023, a sentence was pronounced by the Chisinau Court, Buiucani seat, on a criminal case brought by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Municipality of Chisinau. Chisinau.

Thus, according to the sentence, a 52-year-old man from Chisinau municipality was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison, serving his sentence in a closed penitentiary.

During the criminal prosecution, prosecutors charged him with the fact that, on February 3, 2023, in the evening, the defendant, being in an apartment in the Botanica sector of the mun. Chisinau, after drinking alcoholic beverages with his roommate, following a conflict, under the pretext of expressing himself in his address with uncensored words, he hit his drinking buddy in the region of the left hemithorax with a kitchen knife.

As a result, the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and died on the spot.

The preventive measure (pre-trial detention) against the defendant was upheld by the court until the sentence was in force.

The sentence is not final and may be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 15 days.
