The head of the Ministry of Justice does not rule out the departure of some prosecutors from the system due to the Vetting procedure

Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said that “honest prosecutors should not worry about verification.”

“When developing the assessment concept, the risk of many vacancies arising due to possible resignations was taken into account. This is evidenced by the example of Albania, where justice reform is also underway. Therefore, the assessment mechanism in Moldova was divided into several stages. Initially, members of the Supreme Council of Magistracy and the Supreme Council of Prosecutors passed Vetting, then The Supreme Court of Justice, the courts of appeal. This procedure is completed by specialized prosecutors,” she said on Radio Moldova, reports infotag.md

The Minister believes that assessment of integrity and professionalism is mandatory for clearing justice.

“Those who pass the assessment will receive double salaries and guarantees for work without outside interference. We do not rule out that there may be resignations, this is everyone’s decision. The law gives the right to make a decision within 20 days. But I think that prosecutors, and judges are interested in restoring public confidence in justice,” the minister said.
