Stamate published Dragalin’s response with the comment “on the Muntean case”
PDS MP Olesya Stamate received a response from the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Veronika Dragalin on the “Yulian Muntean case”
“It is unclear whether the name of the prosecutor who led this criminal investigation at the time of the indictment and the details of the actions taken by the prosecutor against the Legal Commission, which does not have the function of supervising or tracking the activities of the prosecutor’s office, are relevant,” Dragalin wrote, rupor.md reports
In this case, Olesia Stamate, who also chairs the Legal Commission on Appointments and Immunity, asked the AP for information about the identity of “the prosecutor who issued the charging order, regardless of whether or not the document is entered into the system, whether or not he or she took certain actions to register the case, as required by a joint interdepartmental order.” The interrogation was conducted, according to the MP, following a hearing in Parliament on the “Yulian Muntean case”.
“I asked the institutions involved for certain information necessary to identify the shortcomings of the system, which led to the Pre-vetting Commission not receiving information about the criminal charge against the candidate… We did not seek to obtain confidential information during the criminal investigation. I asked who was the prosecutor who issued the charging order, whether he entered the case into the system, whether he took certain actions to fix the case as required by the joint interagency order.”
I attach the response received from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Unfortunate. I understand that the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office does not see a problem with violating the interagency order by not entering the indictment into the system (as this has never caused a problem in a criminal investigation!!!). Not to mention that the AP will recognise him as a suspect – which is an intermediate stage. But in this case we are talking about the accusation – which is a much more serious stage of the criminal process.”
In addition, Veronika Dragalin informed Olesa Stamata by an official letter that:
“… please specify the specific problem that you think Parliament should address so that we can co-operate and find solutions”.
On her Facebook page, Stamate wrote that after receiving such a reply, she realised that “the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is absolutely not interested either in bringing order to these procedures or in identifying prosecutors who do not perform their duties in accordance with the law and the current regulatory framework”.
