Two prosecutors were searched in a case of illegal enrichment
Law enforcement officers conducted searches of two prosecutors and their relatives as part of an investigation into a case of illegal enrichment (Article 3302, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova), the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported on April 25.
The investigation was launched in November 2023 after information appeared in the public space, zdg.md reports.
According to the collected materials, these persons, being prosecutors, acquired and owned property that was officially registered in the name of third parties, and incurred expenses exceeding legally received income in the amount of 1.2 million lei.
“As a result of the searches, objects and documents were confiscated, which are to be checked for their significance and evidence for the criminal case.
Next, investigative actions will be carried out in order to establish all the circumstances of the case and to make a decision in accordance with the law, about which the public will be informed,” explained the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The criminal prosecution is being carried out by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office with the operational support of the National Anti-Corruption Center.
