The case regarding the pledge of the first floor of the Republican Hospital has been pending for 9 years
This September it will be nine years since the criminal case regarding the pledge of the first floor of the Republican Clinical Hospital “came to a dead end.”
In this case, among the five defendants is ex-Minister of Health Andrei Usatii, reports zdg.md
The last meeting lasted less than 10 minutes. The break was for the same reason that two other hearings scheduled for this year were postponed – the prosecutor either did not appear, or asked to postpone the hearing, or was replaced.
One of the accused explains the delay in the case by the lack of evidence from the prosecutor’s office. According to him, “one prosecutor doesn’t come, then another doesn’t show up, because they don’t have decisions.” He believes that this is “nonsense, invented during the state captured by Plahotniuc.”
Andrei Usatii attracted the attention of the NACB after in a letter he allowed the bank to mortgage 500 square meters of the Republican Clinical Hospital. The premises were supposed to be a guarantee for the economic agent that he would return the money borrowed for the purchase of equipment for high-performance services worth 16 million euros. It was to be purchased through a public-private partnership with the Ministry of Health.
However, the agreement between the bank and the private economic agent provided that the bank could take possession of the mortgaged premises if the institution began the reorganization procedure. This happened two days later, when Andrei Usatii signed an order to reorganize the Republican Clinical Hospital.
Although the case has been in court for almost 9 years, there have only been a few dozen scheduled hearings.
