The results of a complex operation carried out by the SIS, in the context of hybrid warfare

Alexandru Musteata, the director of SIS, held a press conference on the results of the complex operation of the Intelligence and Security Service to stop the hostile actions of the Russian Federation and some criminal groups, directed against the rule of law, democracy and the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.

The operative and analytical data of the Service indicate the preparation and realization, starting from the second half of 2022, on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, of a subversive scenario of external interference, with the aim of the violent removal of democratic governance and the taking over of political control by subordinate criminal groups other countries.

The activities identified are aimed at undermining the values ​​and the democratic process, in order to distort and influence the electoral process, paying attention to the constitutional order of the Republic of Moldova, and which require certain and determined preventive measures to be taken.

The conclusions of the information presented indicate that the Republic of Moldova is subject to hybrid attacks of an unprecedented scale. Manipulation, propaganda and disinformation, attempts to change the government through violence, cyber attacks, false bomb alarms, attempts to enter the country of foreign citizens with military training to carry out subversive operations, massive financing of an organized criminal group that corrupts voters, deputies, political leaders and candidates, all to compromise the entire system of democratic governance of the country to pass it into the sphere of influence of the Russian Federation.
