Anti-corruption discussion platform at the Ministry of Justice

The Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, chaired yesterday the joint discussion meeting on the coordination of efforts to strengthen the capacities of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the identification of its operational-managerial needs and the actions to be taken by each institution.

Thus, in the context of the implementation of commitment number three of the EU anti-corruption measure, the conclusions of the functional analysis of the needs for strengthening the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office were presented, which was carried out by 2 international experts, Codruț Olaru and Claudiu Dumitrescu. The discussions focused on several key issues:

Identifying the headquarters for the PA;
Modification of the PA’s organisation chart;
Amendments to the legislation (Criminal Procedure Code and, the Law on the National Anti-Corruption Centre and the Law on Specialised Prosecutor’s Offices).
The meeting was attended by the heads of anti-corruption institutions: General Prosecutor’s Office (PG), Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), Legal, Appointments and Immunities Commission, National Anti-Corruption Centre (NAC), Criminal Assets Recovery Agency (ARBI), Service for Preventing and Combating Money Laundering (SPCSB), National Integrity Authority (ANI), practitioners in the field, and exchanged views on them.

As a result of the meeting, the analysis will be finalised taking into account the comments and proposals received in order to take appropriate decisions.
