On the fact of the road accident on Decebal bld. in the capital, which caused the death of a woman and bodily injuries to other people, the criminal investigation was finished, and the criminal case was referred to the court
The Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office, the Main Office has finished the criminal investigation and forwarded the criminal case to the court, accusing a man of committing the crime of violating traffic safety rules or operating means of transport by the person driving the means of transport. transport, a violation that recklessly caused serious bodily injury and the death of a person (art. 264 para. (3) letter a), b) of the Criminal Code), as well as the crime of leaving the scene of a road accident (art. 266 of Penal Code).
The prosecutors submitted the accusation on the fact that, on July 24, 2023, at approximately 10 p.m., moving with the means of transport in the municipality of Chisinau, on Bld. Decebal, from the direction of bd. Iuri Gagarin, having as passengers 3 people, did not take into account the state of things in road traffic that reflects the degree of protection of its participants against accidents and their consequences, did not take into account all the factors characterizing road conditions, the existence of some obstacles on the road sectors, the intensity and level of organization of road traffic, by which he ignored the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation (RCR), and as a result, he lost control of the steering wheel, went the wrong way and collided with another vehicle, whose driver the car was a man.
From the bumping, the accused’s car was projected onto the opposite lane, where it collided with a second “Volkswagen Polo” model vehicle, at the wheel of which was a woman, with three passengers, after which it was projected and bumped the the third “Skoda Octavia” model car, driven by a man.
As a result of this road event, the reserved means of transport were technically damaged, and the driver of the “Volkswagen Polo” model vehicle died.
According to the medico-legal forensic report, one of the passengers of the car driven by the deceased driver suffered serious bodily injuries, another – medium bodily injuries, and the third – minor bodily injuries.
Immediately after the road accident, the accused, showing negligence towards those involved in the road accident and towards the people who suffered bodily injuries, got out of the car and left the scene of the road accident, going in an unknown direction, at 03 August 2023 being retained.
The accused admitted his guilt in committing the imputed act.
He faces a maximum penalty of up to 9 years in prison, with the cancellation of the right to drive means of transport.
