The Vetting Commission has completed the evaluation of two candidates

The Vetting Commission announced the completion of the assessment of the candidate for the position of judge in the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Vladislav Gribinchi, and the candidate for the position of member of the Board for Selection and Evaluation of Judges of the SCM, Mihaela Pascal.

The commission decided that both candidates meet the integrity criteria and passed the test, zdg.md reports.

In the case of the SCM candidate Vladislav Gribincea, whose assessment was carried out in accordance with Law 65/2023, the commission prepared a report with a proposal to undergo the assessment and sent it to the SCM. The Superior Council of Magistracy must consider at a meeting the details of the assessment and the relevant facts and make a reasoned decision on whether to accept or reject the commission’s report. The Vetting Commission will publish the assessment report on its website vettingmd.eu within 3 days after the decision of the SCM.

In the case of the candidate Mihaela Pascale, assessed in accordance with Law 26/2022, the Vetting Commission issued a decision, which it sent to the candidate and the SCM, as the organizer of the competition for vacant positions in the Panel for the Selection and Evaluation of Judges. Michaela Pascale must notify the commission if she objects to the publication of the decision within 48 hours of receipt of the document. In the absence of such notification, the commission will publish the decision on its website.

Thirteen candidates submitted applications to participate in the competition to fill vacant positions in the Board for Selection and Evaluation of Judges; the applications were transferred by the SCM to the Vetting Commission for evaluation of the applicants. Of these, one candidate refused to participate in the competition, and two passed the assessment. Reports for two candidates are pending, and eight other candidates have been invited to attend hearings.

In the SCM, out of 35 assessment subjects, the commission sent 16 assessment reports to the SCM. Another six reports are in the process of being prepared, and seven candidates for SCJ members and one current SCJ judge are in the process of being vetted.
