EU Security HUB in Moldova involved in the European operation EEA – JAD 2023 to fight cross-border crime, organised by EUROPOL

More than 120 Moldovan specialists from the EU Security HUB in Chisinau participate in the joint European operation to combat cross-border crime, coordinated by Europol, “Joint Action Days in South Eastern Europe (SEE – JAD 2023)”.

The operation was launched this morning and will end at the end of this week, and the 120 employees from the Ministry of Interior, General Prosecutor’s Office and Customs Service will be trained in control and crime detection operations at 14 state border crossing points, on national roads and in certain areas of the national territory.

The aim of this international operational action is to contribute to the fight against illegal arms trafficking, drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings, the dismantling of illegal migration networks and the dismantling of high-risk criminal networks through international cooperation and the operationalisation of information exchange.

So far law enforcement authorities involved in the SEE JAD 2023 operation on the territory of Moldova have already detected one international fugitive and 4 persons who illegally crossed the border from Ukraine.

The international participants are EU Member States and Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Also involved are EU agencies and international and regional organisations EUROPOL, EUROJUST, FRONTEX, EUBAM, INTERPOL, SELEC, SEESAC, UNDOC, PCC-SEE.
