A lawyer is under criminal investigation for influence peddling, being suspected of having promised to influence public figures for 8,000 euros

A lawyer from Chisinau is suspected of influence peddling, being documented by the CNA, the anti-corruption prosecutors and the SPIA of the MAI in a case started on September 4, 2023. According to the accumulated materials, the lawyer, claiming that he would have influence on people with a position of public dignity from the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, allegedly convinced one of his clients that he could solve the fraud case in which he appeared.

During the investigations and prosecution actions, it was found that the lawyer claimed 8,000 euros from his client for mediation services. The fact of the claim was established during the telephone conversations he had with the client. On September 15, 2023, the lawyer received an installment of the claimed amount from the person he represented in the case.

Today, 3 searches were carried out at the home, the car and the lawyer’s office.

The criminal investigation continues, and the suspect is being investigated in a state of freedom.
