Maia Sandu signed a decree appointing Ion Munteanu as Prosecutor General

His candidacy was proposed to the head of state by the Supreme Council of Prosecutors (SCP) following a meeting on May 30.

Maia Sandu signed a decree appointing Ion Munteanu as prosecutor general. Ion Muntean is 40 years old.

He graduated from the State University of Moldova, received a bachelor’s degree in law and a master’s degree in economic law from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, reports realitatea.md

Munteanu has been a prosecutor since 2006. He worked as temporary deputy chief prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (AP), temporary deputy chief prosecutor of the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office and temporary deputy head of the Representation Office.
