180 thousand dollars were illegally brought into the country: 4 people were detained

Four young people were detained in connection with the smuggling of money worth more than 180 thousand dollars. The suspects hid money in their jacket and trouser pockets, as well as under their waist belts.

The incident occurred at the Vulcanesti customs post when entering the country from Ukraine. Four young people aged 22 to 31 chose the green corridor – “nothing to declare.” Nevertheless, customs officers ordered a detailed physical check of the car and the transported items, and money was found on the suspects, reports ipn.md

Customs officers later conducted five searches at the residences and vehicles of the suspects.

One of the suspects was previously under investigation for organizing illegal migration, theft and accidents. The prosecutor’s office will have to determine the need to apply a preventive measure, including establishing the purpose of these more than 180 thousand dollars.
