The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Culture will manage a joint platform for the protection of monuments
November 1, 2023, Chisinau – The Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, signed together with the Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, the joint order on the creation of the platform to prevent cases of attacks on monuments. It assumes that the Ministries undertake to cooperate more intensively to preserve and conserve the cultural and historical heritage of our country.
The mission of the platform is both to prevent cases of attacks on monuments and to hold accountable the people who attack their integrity and authentic appearance. To ensure the efficiency of the platform, the two institutions have undertaken several commitments. The Ministry of Culture will examine and systematize the information on cases of attacks on monuments through destruction, demolition, degradation, mutilation or unauthorized intervention on them, will present to the Ministry of Internal Affairs the information on cases of attacks on monuments and will notify the criminal investigation bodies. For its part, the MAI will provide support to colleagues from the Ministry of Culture in examining and systematizing information on cases of attacks on monuments.
In this sense, the institutions are to elaborate, based on the examinations and investigations carried out, the proposals for amending the normative framework in the field of monument protection.
