A 19-year-old was sentenced to seven years in prison for drug trafficking
On 8 September 2023, prosecutors of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office secured the conviction of a young man accused of drug trafficking (Art. 217/1 paragraph (4) letter d) of the Criminal Code).
Thus, according to the verdict of the Chisinau court, the last HQ Buiucani was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions or to engage in certain activities related to the use and trafficking of drugs, their analogues, substances. or medicine with a strong effect for 5 (five) years.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed within 15 days before the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
During the investigation of the criminal case, it was established that on 17 March 2022, the accused, having drugs in zip-lock packages, distributed them in improvised hiding places on the territory of Chisinau municipality, from where they had to be taken away. In total, he hid in 5 places the narcotic substance PVP in the amount of 11,614 grammes. On the same day, during a personal search of the defendant, 15 more zip-lock bags containing the drug substance PVP with a total weight of 13.342 grams were found and seized.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
He mentioned that through the social network “VKontakte” he received an invitation to take part in a “quest”. He was curious and asked for details. The rules were explained to him, namely that he had to find the treasure faster than the other participants and hide it elsewhere. Thus, the said packages ended up in his pocket.
NOTES. A person accused of an offence is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final ruling of the court.
