Ammo found in passengers’ luggage at Chisinau airport

Border police officers at the Chisinau International Airport began an investigation against two foreigners and one citizen of Moldova, in whose bags cartridges and a forged document were found.

These cases were registered when leaving the Republic of Moldova, reports noi.md

A 41-year-old citizen of Armenia was identified among the passengers on the Chisinau-Yerevan flight. As a result of an additional check, he was found to have a driver’s license, allegedly issued by the competent authorities of Ukraine. After a thorough examination using special equipment, border guards determined that the ID contained signs of counterfeit.

In another case, a 40-year-old passenger on the Chisinau-Frankfurt flight, a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, when checking his hand luggage, border guards noticed objects resembling cartridges. When searching the contents of the bag, three cartridges were indeed found.

The cartridge was also found in the luggage of a passenger on the Chisinau – Antalya flight – he turned out to be a 43-year-old citizen of Ukraine.

“We remind passengers that transporting weapons and ammunition across the state border is prohibited by law. We recommend checking your personal belongings and the legality of their possession before crossing the state border,” the Customs Service said in a statement.
