The State Police is investigating the involvement of Alexey Kotorobai in the case of the death of a 10-month-old child

The Prosecutor General’s Office is investigating the involvement of Alexei Kotorobai (brother of Georgiy Kotorobai, the main suspect in the murder of 19-year-old Anna-Maria Guzha) in the case of the death of a 10-month-old child that occurred 14 years ago.

ZdG recently published an investigation on this topic and submitted a request to the Telenesti prosecutor’s office, where the case was investigated in 2010. The request was forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office is conducting a criminal trial, during which all the circumstances of the case are being clarified, including those set out in your request,” says the response from the Prosecutor General’s Office to Ziarul de Gardă.

Alexei Kotorobai, brother of Georgiy Kotorobai, the main suspect in the murder of 19-year-old pregnant Anna-Maria, was accused of killing a 10-month-old child 14 years ago. The baby’s relatives claim that the case was then hushed up.

The mother, who was a minor at the time, was convicted of the child’s death. The grandmother of the deceased baby told ZdG that she believes that it was Alexei Cotorobai who could have killed the child, and claims that she and her daughter were threatened by his family, and out of fear they fled the Republic of Moldova.

The child’s mother was found guilty

The cause of the child’s death, according to the conclusion of the forensic examination cited in the verdict, could have been “shaking syndrome” of the child, and the injuries were caused “as a result of shaking him by unknown persons.”

The child’s mother was found guilty of “knowingly leaving without help a person in a life-threatening condition and deprived of the opportunity to escape.”

The young woman, however, was released from criminal liability given that she was a minor and for the first time committed, as the verdict says, “a light or less serious crime.” Thus, she was brought to administrative liability in the form of a fine of 50 conventional units and released from custody.

During the trial, she “entered into a plea agreement” and admitted that she “sincerely repents,” the verdict also states.

The girl’s mother, Claudia Kosier, told Ziarul de Gardă that her daughter was forced to admit her guilt by Alexey Kotorobay, who allegedly threatened her. She asked that her daughter’s name not be disclosed.

“She was forced to do it because he forced him. He, his mother, his brother. They said that if she did not write what they said, they would kill our entire family. We were threatened at every step, we were followed. I was afraid sleep in the house,” the woman said.

Both the mother and her daughter are not currently in the Republic of Moldova.

Moreover, also during the investigation of the criminal case, according to some documents that ZdG reviewed, the young mother then stated that on February 10, 2010, Alexey Kotorobay came to her home, where she lived with her 10-month-old child. He was intoxicated and offered to have sex. As the baby began to cry, the man ordered the young mother to leave the house, threatening to kill her. The young woman went out and then heard a noise, and when she returned, she “saw her baby on the floor, lying on his back, with his head on one side and his eyes closed.”

The girl began to cry, and Alexey Kotorobay told her “not to be upset,” grabbed the child from her hands and put her in a plastic bathtub in the kitchen. He then kicked the young woman out of the house, locked the door, forced her into his car and drove her to a bar. And later, for five days after this, Kotorobai allegedly held the girl captive, took her mobile phone and threatened her with a knife.

According to the girl’s mother, Kotorobai’s family paid money so that Alexey would not be brought to justice for the murder of her grandson.

Alexey Kotorobay acted as a witness at this trial. At the stage of the criminal investigation, he stated that he had never been to the young woman’s house. He also said that he knew that the girl had a child, but had never seen him in reality, only from a photo on his mobile phone. According to him, on February 10, 2010, he called the girl to the bar, and she came alone. He later took her by car to her grandparents’ house in a nearby village. He also stated that he then called her and asked where her child was, then she told him that he was with her mother in Drochia.
