The NAC seized property worth about 40 million lei
The National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) reports on several anti-corruption activities carried out last week, as well as other activities within the range of institutional mandates.
On Tuesday, a resident of Cantemir was detained in a case of benefiting from influence, suspected of demanding and receiving 1,000 euros for organizing the issuance of a driver’s license, noi.md reports.
On Wednesday, a case was brought to court against the former acting head of the Chisinau customs post, accused of benefiting from influence and active corruption. The case was opened by the NAC in 2022 and concerns the actions of the accused, expressed in the systematic demand for financial resources to influence decision-making. It should be noted that currently 6 people arrested in cases initiated by the NAC have been placed in prison.
During the reporting period, prosecutors opened 8 criminal cases and proposed 2 criminal cases for transfer to court.
ARBI issued orders to seize assets worth about 40 million lei, of which 27 million lei were seized abroad. In the field of preventing corruption, the Legislative Directorate last week completed preparations and presented to the authors 19 expert opinions and 26 opinions on draft laws. Work on eight forensic expert reports has also been completed, and another 82 are under the jurisdiction of the specialized department.
During this period, 12 anti-corruption trainings were organized for 760 people. The NAC reports the launch of three operational audits, the issuance of 131 integrity reports, the receipt of 47 calls to the national anti-corruption line and the registration of 1,590 materials in the Center’s registry.
