Dragalin: The AP does not have human and material resources to investigate corruption cases
The head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Veronika Dragalin, states that the AP does not have the human and material resources to investigate cases of corruption at the highest level.
According to the prosecutor, the main obstacle at the moment is the lack of space for employees, reports unimedia.info
“According to changes in legislation, from April 1, 2024, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office remained completely uncovered in matters of operational provision of materials within the competence of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. That is, for corruption crimes of the highest level (committed by special entities, such as ministers, deputies, judges, prosecutors ) our institute does not have the human and material resources to ensure visual surveillance, wiretapping, controlled transfer of money and other special measures,” says the head of the Administration.
Dragalin complained about the lack of sufficient premises for employees of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. We are talking about about 100 people (officials, specialists, accountants, civil servants providing management of the institution). At the moment, the AP staff occupies 950 m2 in the NAC building.
Dragalin claims that without additional space it is impossible to achieve the desired number of full-time employees – 198 people.
“If the heads of government institutions refuse to allow the use of public spaces in the public interest, as a result there will most likely be no students, no teachers, no scientists left in our country. This will happen as a result of corruption. Without urgently strengthening the institution responsible for fighting corruption “At the highest level, we are sending the wrong message that the fight against corruption, justice and the rule of law are not a priority for our country. Our citizens deserve better,” wrote Veronica Dragalin.
