Judge on the von Hebel investigation: “Who will take responsibility?”

Judge Victoria Sanduta commented on the investigation into the integrity of the chairman of the prevetting commission.

She posted a message on social networks, calling Hermann von Hebel a “Trojan horse,” noi.md reports.

“I am most seriously interested in who will now take responsibility?! Which development partners proposed and verified it?! This can be qualified as a big diplomatic scandal! Who sent us a Trojan horse?!”

And Cristina Ciubotaru, a lawyer and anti-corruption expert, published a post on social networks about this situation.

The ex-deputy head of the NAC, Cristina Ciubotaru, claims that the chairman of the Prevetting Commission, Hermann von Hebel, has not worked for a day in any similar commission in Albania, as stated by representatives of the PAS government

. While in Albania on a working visit, Ciubotaru claims to have spoken with several Albanian judicial officials who told her that von Hebel had nothing to do with prevetting or vetting processes in the Balkan state.

According to an investigation conducted by the Anticoruptie portal, Hermann von Hebel worked from March 8, 2013 to April 16, 2018 as the secretary of the International Criminal Court in The Hague (ICC). In 2018, the Dutch press reported that the International Criminal Court had suffered at least €760,000 worth of damage.

Also, several decisions considered illegal were adopted in connection with the reform initiated by Hermann von Hebel at the Court, which was subsequently subject to sharp criticism by the judges. The journalistic investigation notes that the High Court incurred costs of reform of 7 million euros, and the judges of the court accused von Hebel of ulterior motives.
