18-year-old man from Nisporeni, accused of several episodes of fraud, sent to the dock

The prosecutors of the Ungheni District Prosecutor’s Office completed the criminal investigation and sent to the court the criminal case accusing an 18-year-old young man from the Nisporeni district of committing several fraud episodes (art. 190 para. (2) letter c) from the Criminal Code).

The prosecutors submitted the accusation that the accused, during the months of April-May 2023, being in the municipality of Ungheni pursuing the purpose of stealing another person’s property through breach of trust, under the pretext of the need to carry out bank transactions, in order to extract the sums of money obtained in the result of gambling, against a reward of several hundred lei, obtained from several young people the copies of the identity cards in the names of the latter.

Further, in order to carry out his criminal actions, under the pretext of needing photographic images to submit to the company for transfer approval, he took several pictures of the injured parties after which he logged in through the mobile application of a microfinance company and completed several loans in the amount of over 20,000 lei each.

Therefore, the prosecutors of the Ungheni District Prosecutor’s Office completed the criminal investigation and sent to the court 3 episodes of fraud regarding the accused. In the same way, in the court of law , previously , by the Ungheni District Prosecutor’s Office, another 6 episodes of fraud were dismissed regarding the accused.

At the same time, regarding the young man, other criminal cases filed for the commission of the crime of fraud based on similar schemes are currently ongoing in other prosecutor’s offices (18 episodes). Thus, in total, 27 criminal episodes are currently being examined at the judicial phase and the prosecution phase .

The sanction of the norm provided for in art. 190 paragraph (2) letter c) of the Criminal Code provides for a fine in the amount of 850 to 1350 conventional units or imprisonment from 1 to 5 years, in both cases with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain functions or to exercise a certain activity for a period of up to 3 years.

Note: The person accused of committing a crime is presumed innocent as long as his guilt is not established by a court decision of final conviction.

!!! The Prosecutor’s Office warns citizens not to give identity cards, their copies, and other material supports containing personal data to unknown persons in order to avoid their use for illegal purposes, which may cause material and moral damage .
